Akaki Tsereteli State University, founded in 1930, is recognized as one of the leading educational institutions in Georgia. It has achieved global recognition due to its high standards in scientific research and training, emerging after the dissolution of Tbilisi State University.
The university is a diverse higher education entity that offers academic and professional programs while actively engaging in research. It adheres to the traditions of the Phase and Gelati academics and follows the principles outlined in the “Great Charter of Universities,” as well as national and European higher education standards. The institution aims to provide students with high-quality education and research opportunities, fostering their personal development and preparing them to become professional leaders.
The university is committed to contributing to the country’s development and recognizes its responsibility to the community. It seeks to deliver educational programs and services that promote the creation of refined knowledge and encourage public policy engagement.
The Faculty of Medicine, established in 1995, is one of the university’s newest faculties, offering a range of academic programs, joint initiatives, and various curricular activities. In 2014, it became a member of the AMEE – Medical Education Association, and in 2015, it was included in the WHO and the International Medical Education Directory (IMED).
The Faculty of Medicine boasts a team of 8 professors, 15 associate professors, and 8 assistant professors, which includes various experts and consultants from international organizations.
Student Life
The university enhances students’ experiences by organizing a variety of activities and programs. Its goal is to empower students through self-governance, enabling them to engage in diverse campus activities.
While the university does not offer on-campus housing, it provides support to students in locating suitable accommodations near the university.
